About Me:

I'm Dr. Patrick M. Davitt, your partner in the journey of health, fitness, and personal development. With a rich academic background and an innate passion for pushing physical and mental boundaries, I'm committed to inspiring and guiding others towards their best selves. As my social media mini bio states: I am a pursuer of adventure and understanding!

Expertise at a Glance:

  • Chair of the Department of Health Sciences & Program Director of Exercise Physiology at Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, PA

  • PhD in Nutritional Physiology and Biochemistry from Rutgers University-specializing in exercise physiology

  • Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Connecticut, delving into the realm of low carbohydrate/ketogenic diets in ultra-endurance athletes

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, CrossFit Level 1 trainer, Functional Movement Screening Level I certified, and Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine

A Lifelong Pursuit of Excellence:

Guided by leading industry professionals throughout my academic journey, I've dedicated myself to unraveling the complexities of the human body and unlocking its limitless capabilities. My expertise has taken me to key roles, such as a total of 6 years as the Head Sports Nutritionist for Rutgers University Football team. My research delves deep into the intersections of energy metabolism, performance testing, and the transformative role of exercise on overall health. I aim to comprehend the metabolic variations across diverse dieting and supplementation methods and explore the physiological outcomes of both prolonged endurance activities or high-intensity interval based. This commitment has allowed me to work with a broad spectrum of individuals, from those leading sedentary lives to high-caliber and professional athletes, always with an emphasis on understanding how fatigue affects cognition and performance, and the pursuit of optimal metabolic efficiency.

Making a Mark:

Over 15 years, I've accumulated deep insights into energy expenditure, fitness testing, and the delicate balance between body, mind, and nutritional habits. My research has been in esteemed journals, and my perspectives have been featured in renowned publications like National Geographic, Outside Magazine, Sports Illustrated and Runners World.

Beyond the classroom, and at the heart of my extracurricular passions lies CTW Endurance, a trail racing company I co-founded. For the past six years, we've thrived on hosting not only adrenaline-packed trail races but also creating events that are welcoming yet formidable to all. We pride ourselves on designing challenges that push participants to their limits, encouraging them to confront and conquer their inner barriers, to truly understand that the world within is as vast and challenging as the one outside. Adjacent to this, my voice finds a platform on the 'Valued Pursuit' podcast that I co-host. Here, alongside a myriad of intriguing guests, we delve deep into a vast array of subjects, always circling back to one core tenet: the importance of valuing one's journey. Each episode is a testament to the continuous and relentless pursuit of bettering oneself, of striving for a superior, more refined version of who we are today. It's not just about the destination but the value we derive from the journey itself.

Living the Philosophy:

My own life mirrors the principles I advocate. With a second-degree black belt in Taekwondo, I have and continue to embrace the virtues of discipline, commitment, and mastery. As an ultra-endurance trail runner and avid hiker, I've embarked on exhilarating adventures, including conquering 26 out of 46 Adirondack peaks and the grueling 2021 Eastern States 100-mile trail race. When I am not spending time with family I am likely on some type of trail, fishing for trout or using my hands to build or repair something.

As a Maxwell Leadership Certified Coach and Speaker, my ethos revolves around relentless self-improvement. The belief that there's a superior version within all of us waiting to be unveiled forms the bedrock of my philosophy, whether in coaching, public speaking or seminars/workshops that I do.
